KICK 'EM IN THE SHINS

As a young child I would wake up in the morning and get ready for school.  As I left the front door my father would never say:

"Return with honor!"

and NEVER

"Remember who you are!"

or not even

"Make me proud!"

But,

"Kick em in the shins."


Yes.  That is my father.  The wisest man I know.  (No sarcasm on that one, folks.  I am serious.)

AND NOW
I am off to my first intramural soccer game.

And I say the same to you:

Kick 'em in the shins.

"OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING"

So, I have been seeing a lot of sunrises lately.  Yes, this means I have been awake early in the morning. But, I rather enjoy it.  Unlike most people... I am a morning person.

Maybe it is because sunrises are far better than sunsets.  

Maybe it is because I love fresh starts.

But there is nothing more pleasing than seeing the sun pop up from behind the mountains...

So here I dedicate this post to a fresh start.

to a new school year.

to a new apartment.

to new roommates.

to a new ward.

to being single once again.

to a new morning.

These are the opening lines in Chapter 3 of my life.

"Oh what a beautiful morning....everything's going my way"

OH WHAT ARE MEN COMPARED TO ROCKS AND MOUNTAINS?

It has always been my dream to hike to the summit of a mountain.  This boy made it happen.

Ok. Fine. The summit is right behind us. {We were close enough}

This is the beauty that we had to deal with for 9 hours....

--we had a buddy on the trail.

These little beauties are called Glacier Lilies.  They pop out 5 days after the snow melts.  Thats how you know where the snow drifts were and when they disappeared.  {In case you ever need that for survival on a mountain...}

I was tripping over rocks on the path because I was stuck on scenes like this--

Completed. Done. Check mark. All at 10,000 feet.

ALL ABOARD: SARAH'S TRAIN OF THOUGHT

So....I have this beautiful piece of art gracing the shelf of my new bedroom. My mother has excellent taste and knows me too well, so she gave it to me for my 19th birthday.



This is quite fitting and accurate, as far as I am concerned. But somedays I don't feel like that at all. Quite recently, actually. With a new apartment, new roommates, new classes, and a new job, I have been feeling a little out of place. A little more like this...



(I laughed pretty hard on seeing this. There are SO many treasures I continue to find because I forgot where I packed them)

As I continued to browse the site I came across another cute saying that I identified with. Upon graduation from BYU's M.E. program I will be purchasing this piece of wall decor and adding it to my collection.



I'm working on this.
